Many centuries ago, the kingdom of Itj Tep thrived like no other. They became dominant in the world both militarily and economically, with an unstoppable navy, and trading ships that reached every corner of the world – from the stormy, frigid North Seas to the warm, tropical waters of the south. But their kingdom grew decadent, selfish and arrogant in their great prosperity. Their deity and progenitor, the Jackal God Nuben, was greatly angered by the corruption of His people. He demanded that his people atone. He descended from His sanctuary in Mount Khymer and demanded King Kheben kneel and beg forgiveness. This infuriated the proud King Kheben. He lobbed a spear at the god in fury and pierced the Nuben’s heart. Though the wound did nothing to him, Nuben was greatly filled with wrath, and pronounced a great curse upon the proud people of Itj Tep.
