Absolute Write
June 2, 2009I think Absolute Write should post a collection of prerequisites for approval.
- Major Publishers (Random House, Simon and Schuster): Approved. No one in their right mind would take AW seriously if they ripped Random House, although I am sure 95% of AW posters would be, or have been, rejected by them.
- Small Publishers: Need a sales team pitching distribution to stores. Try very hard to get a POD publisher to admit they do not have this, and then take this as an excuse to admit that their authors have no chance of succeeding. Then, after forcing this down their throat (even if they resist), mark them disapproved. After all, no serious author would write for a POD publisher, they would write an E-book (chuckle).
- E-Books: You do not need any meaningful distribution or ad campaigns. Even though the best of E-books sell for about 200 copies, less than the average small press POD publisher, as long as you’re an E-Book publisher, you are approved. E-Book authors are granted full permission to bash small press authors, no matter how unsuccessful they may be.
Exception to all rules: Samhain.
Episode 1
June 2, 2009The first episode is up! It’s short, about 1000 words, a bite sized chapter for the ADD reader. Take a look and comment either here or on the blog.
